Play Mancala on One Device

Set one phone, tablet, or computer between you and start right away. There is no room to create, no sign-in, and no connection to wait for. Tap a pit on your row, pass the device across, and decide on takebacks before the first sow.

Before You Start

Place the device where both players can reach it easily. South opens from a non-empty pit on the near row.

Two rules matter immediately: landing in your store gives you another turn, and landing in an empty pit on your side captures the opposite pit.

Agree on takebacks before the first move. For a fair short set, play two games so each player gets one start as South.

Follow the Turn

The status bar tells you whether South or North is up. Tap a non-empty pit on your row. Tapping an empty pit or the wrong side does not spend the turn, so pass the device across only after the sow is complete.

Legal Does Not Mean Best

Most beginner debates come down to three questions: does this sow earn another turn, does an empty pit capture, and who takes the leftover seeds at the end? The board only accepts legal Kalah moves. A move can be legal and still be a bad trade.

Swap Sides After Each Game

Because South always opens, the fairest short set gives each person one game as South. The move list records every pit, so you can replay the turn when an extra move appeared or a capture swung the stores.
